Creative London North will focus
on the needs of enterprises in the boroughs
of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham
Forest, but also offer a consultancy
service for the clients of other hubs where
local knowledge can be shared across the city.
Funded by national, local and European government,
Creative London North brings together eight
key North London organisations working in
the cultural, arts and creative industries:
Collage Arts, Prevista, Enfield Arts
Partnership, Mountview Academy of Theatre
Arts, the Selby Trust and Centre, CIDA, DV8
and Integria.
What is Creative London North?
Creative London North is a 'creative community
in progress' that will grow to service the
diverse needs of the local community and beyond
and advocate and promote local creative talent,
products and services. It is a cross between
a creative chamber of commerce and a club
for creative entrepreneurs.
CLN has a professional mentoring scheme and
a broader life-coaching service.
There are regular training, speed-matching
sessions and supervision and support are available
for both mentors and mentees.
CLN hosts industry events, deliver business-support,
provide facilities for business activities,
and create networks. An example of CLN events
includes the recent hosting of the AIM (Association
of Independent Music) Digital Distribution
Day, which attracted over 200 small creative
businesses to presentations and one-to-one
appointments with a broad range of players
including I-Tunes, and Napster.
CLN aims to provide services that work
towards a level-playing field for all creative
people because we recognise the inequalities
that can affect talented people from north
London's diverse communities. CLN provides
advice and guidance, talent-focusing and
the opportunity to share ideas, experience
and work with other committed artists and
creative people, providing a professional
sounding-board for ideas and facilitating
a clear understanding of industry processes
and practices.
